Why Mansfield homeowners spray instead of replace
A lot of the brown and woodgrain uPVC fitted in the eighties and nineties is still working perfectly well. What has aged is the colour. Spraying changes the colour and leaves the working window alone.
The house below shows the kind of change we are asked for most: dark brown frames taken to charcoal grey, front door included. Each frame is masked individually, cleaned, keyed and primed before the colour goes on, so the finish grips the plastic rather than sitting on top of it.

The one Mansfield area with a painting restriction
Mansfield district has eleven conservation areas, from The Park and Market Place to Mansfield Woodhouse and Church Warsop. Only one has an Article 4 direction: Pleasley Park and Vale. That direction specifically removes the right to paint the exterior of a house where it fronts a relevant location, without planning permission.
If you are in Pleasley Park and Vale, talk to Mansfield District Council before changing the colour of anything at the front. Everywhere else in the district, colour changes to your own uPVC are normally a matter of choice.
Before you book
Spraying is a finish, not a repair. A window that sticks, a door that drops or a frame with a split corner needs sorting first. So does condensation between the panes, which means a sealed unit has failed; a glazier can swap the unit and the sprayed frame stays as it is. When we look at your photographs we will say straight away if anything should be fixed before the colour goes on.
It helps to decide which items you want done together. A garage door sprayed on its own can look out of place next to white windows, so many Mansfield customers do the front of the house in one go.
How a Mansfield job runs
Once you have the price and a date, the job itself is usually a day or two. Masking comes first and takes the longest: glass, brick, sills, paths and anything nearby are covered. Then the uPVC is cleaned with a solvent cleaner, keyed so the primer has something to grip, primed and sprayed. We take the masking off, go over the finish with you, and clear up before we leave.

Spray painting in Mansfield: questions
Is there anywhere in Mansfield where painting the outside of a house needs permission?
Yes. Mansfield has eleven conservation areas, and one of them — Pleasley Park and Vale — has an Article 4 direction that removes the right to paint the exterior of a house where it fronts a relevant location. If you live there, speak to Mansfield District Council before changing the colour of anything on the front of the house.
Do you spray kitchen cabinets in Mansfield Woodhouse and Mansfield?
Yes. Kitchen cabinet doors, drawer fronts and end panels are resprayed in a new colour. It is a way to change a kitchen completely without replacing the units.
How much does spraying cost in Mansfield?
uPVC windows start from £75 each, front doors from £160 and garage doors from £250. A whole house of windows is typically between £400 and £900. Kitchens are priced individually.
Can a brown uPVC window be sprayed grey?
Yes, and it is one of the most common changes we make. The frames are cleaned, keyed and primed so the grey covers evenly over the brown.
How long will the finish last?
The frames are prepared and sprayed with coatings made for uPVC, and residential work carries our 10-year guarantee.
Can you match the colour of my new composite door?
Usually, yes. We can match to a RAL reference or to a sample, so windows and garage door can be sprayed to sit with a door that is already fitted.
Is spraying worth it if my windows are old?
If they open, close and seal properly, yes. Age alone is not a problem; failed frames and warped sashes are, and we will tell you if we see them.
