Garage doors: what makes a good result
Most garage doors that come to us are faded, chalky or a colour that no longer matches the house. The panel underneath is usually sound. Steel doors are checked for rust at the bottom edge and around fixings, and any rust is treated and primed before the colour goes on. uPVC and composite-style doors are cleaned and keyed so the coating bonds properly.
The springs, tracks and motor of an up-and-over or roller door are not touched by spraying. If the door is hard to open or noisy, that is a job for a garage door engineer, ideally before we spray.
What to expect on the day
A garage door and front door together is usually a single day. We mask first — the frame, the driveway, glass and any fittings — then clean, key and prime, and spray the colour in thin coats. As the Ashby photos show, glass is sheeted and handles are protected. When the finish is dry we remove the masking, check everything with you, and tidy up.
Ashby's conservation areas
Ashby's original 1972 conservation area was divided into three in December 2024: Ashby Castle, Ashby Spa and Ashby Town. North West Leicestershire District Council's guidance lists Article 4 directions for Lockington and Staunton Harold, not for any of Ashby's three areas.
